  It is TERRIBLE and sinning against God to celebrate Christmas. But as long as you go to all the meetings, you can do anything else you want. Just don't let anybody find out about it!

  Child abuse, child sexual abuse, abuse in general. Covering it all up and pretending it doesn't happen. That is reason enough to leave the cult in the rear view mirror.

  i'm visiting my brother and his family in virginia for thanksgiving.

  as i was looking out the kitchen window today, saturday, waiting for my sister-in-law to finish talking with my niece on the phone, i noticed an older couple in thick coats going to different houses in the cul-de-sac.

  as i was watching the older couple and thinking about what i would do if they rang the door where i was and if they were jws, the door rang.. at the door were two older african-american women.

  they were just at my door and offered it to me with one of their heartless and scripted presentations.

  A pod of them landed in my subdivision this morning. I heard the doorbell, looked out and saw two people I do not know. I turned around and walked back into the kitchen. After they rang the bell two more times, they finally walked back to their transport and exited the neighborhood. At age 60 it finally clicked: I don't have to open my door just because someone rings the bell.

  Good to hear the handbill campaign is ending today. They can keep their seeds.

  The irony for me, seeing those guys getting chunky, is remembering many jw who were disgusted by overweight people and ridiculed them a LOT. I remember hearing one skinny sister telling another, that she always avoided sitting in the chairs most often chosen by fatties. Because they broke down the padding and then you'd be uncomfortable through the meeting. A lot of people really get mad at fat people, and feel like they put on weight deliberately.
